Designing a dreamy bedroom

A colourful bedroom

The bedroom is a private personal retreat where you should be able to close the door on the rest of the world. When planning your colour scheme you should aim to create a warm and mood-enhancing private sanctuary where you can wind down and relax.

Creating a haven of peace

Your bedrooms is the first and last thing you see each day and it is also the place where you spend almost a third of your life, so it should revitalise your spirit each time you wake.

Because they are private spaces, bedrooms allow more flexibility then other rooms when it comes to colour, style and décor. Just remember the end result should be harmonious and comforting.

Sweet retreats and soft colours

While bedrooms can look great in deep, vibrant colours, soft colour are often the best choice as these will create a more peaceful and restful atmosphere because of their soothing, comforting and calming benefits.

Cool colours such as blues, greens and lavender are prefect for bedrooms. Psychologically these colours are calming and evoke deep-seated feelings of peace and tranquillity see psychology of colour.

A warm neutral bedroom

Warm colours can also be used to create a peaceful environment when used properly, though cool colours tend to be the most satisfying choice.

Neutral colours are an excellent choice for bedrooms as they are very soothing as well as elegant and calm. By using neutral colours you will be able to update your bedroom easily by adding brighter coloured accessories such as bedding and curtains, rather than having to redecorate the whole room.

A touch of romance
It's the simple things...that matters!

Luxurious fabrics, rich with inviting textures, soft and sumptuous pillows, indulgent throws and Egyptian cotton sheets - not only are they romantic but they will also give you a heavenly night's rest.

A shemmering chandelier

Mood lighting is essential so change you pendent ceiling light for a shimmering chandelier and replace you normal switches to dimmer switches so bright reading light can be changed into a soft light for those special evening see lighting.
